Hanging Coffins
Many of mountaineers in Bifengxia where the Han and Qiang minority people inhabit, are still descendants of Qiang. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, the Qiang people scattered up and down the Qiangjiang River (known as the Qingyi River), when the cliff burial was popular that hung the coffins high on the cliff wall. Forefathers of the Qiang people were offspring of Emperor Yu who led people to control water and made remarkable achievements. After a Qiang person died, his/her body will be placed in a coffin and hung on the cliff wall, so as to take the divine power of Emperor Yu by inheritance. Such power can enable one to go up and down heaven like the god and ghost. It fact, it is a worship of divine power, i.e. the power of God.
